If you read five things: ForceBand [2606.26093] for the reframing; Belkhale, Cui & Sadigh [2306.02437] for the quality formalism; Farrell & Weir 2007 for the latency ceiling; the Kaifosh Nature 2025 paper for what generic sEMG decoding can now do; and FoAR [2411.15753] for the ablation showing force-as-observation is worth nothing without gating.

If you read ten: add robomimic [2108.03298], Laghi et al. 2020 IJRR for tele-impedance numbers, Stiffness Copilot [2603.14068] for the vision-based alternative, TaCo [2605.21976] for the null results, and CUPID [2506.19121] for curation.

If you are building something: start from ForceBand's pipeline, run H4 first to check that vision does not already predict grip force, then H2 before committing to any stiffness channel.
